Guy Granger

Guy E. Granger, 82, of Salinas, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009 at his home.
Guy was born March 19, 1927, in Moline, Ill.

Guy joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and served during WWII and the Korean war. He was awarded the WWII National Defense, Asiatic Pacific Campaign and Occupation Service metals. He served for a total of nine years. After leaving the Navy, Guy graduated from Humbolt State College in 1958, and earned his Master's Degree in Art from San Jose State University in 1964. Guy married Ada Lawson in 1956 and has lived in Salinas since 1963. He taught "Welding for the Arts" for Salinas Union High School District and Hartnell College. He was a member of the Carpenters' 905 Union. Guy enjoyed the outdoors, riding horses, landscaping, traveling and was a lifetime member and past president of the Monterey Co. Horseman's Association. He was also a 30-year member of the Monterey County Sheriff's Posse and belonged to the American Legion Post #31.

Survivors: Wife, Ada (Lawson) Granger; son, Jerry Granger of Santa Cruz; daughter, Lynn Aebi (Lane) of Lodi; grandson, Bryce (Rachel) Aebi of Penngrove; granddaughter, Jenyn Aebi of San Francisco.
